How EDWIN Selvage Denim got even better
EDWIN Japan selvage jeans are iconic and have a very loyal following – and for very good reason.
Selvage denim is unfinished with a unique threading known as “selvedge line”, which is the stitching seen when you roll up the cuffs on your jeans.
The original EDWIN selvage was released in 1963 with the unique rainbow colour stitching which has become an icon of the brand.
These jeans are produced in traditional ways, often on looms that are 80 years old. Because of the intricacy in making these jeans in the traditional way from start to finish, production numbers are low so you can be assured that you’ll be wearing something unique.
Also the colour fades from raw and will look different for each individual, reflecting the shape of your body and your daily routine, making your denim your own.
To celebrate their 60th birthday, EDWIN wanted to make their unique product even better and more authentically Japanese – keeping one eye on tradition and the other on the future.
All jeans are now produced, treated and finished in their own factory in Japan.
Using carefully selected fabrics from the most revered Japanese denim mills such as Nihon Menpu, Kaihara, Kurabo and Kuroki, they have launched five key styles for Spring/Summer 2022.
This new collection sets the standard for future collections.
